I recently ended my tenure as the inaugural CEO of the Museums Commission in the Ministry of Culture of KSA (2019-2023), establishing its strategy and initiating its implementation, being responsible for all conceptual, strategic and operational matters related to the entire museum sector of the Kingdom in view of its Vision 2030. I am now a freelance senior consultant mostly in the fields of museum strategies, studies and leadership but with a broad view and experience in cultural public strategies, government processes and procurement matters, marketing, audience outreach, and much more. Previously I served as the Director and CEO of the Art Gallery of Western Australia in Perth (2008-2019) and as a Curator and Administrator in the Department of Islamic Art at The Metropolitan Museum of Art (1992-2008). I was born and grew up in Venice, Italy and I graduated in Arabic language and Islamic Art at the University of Venice, followed by a PhD in Islamic Art and Archaeology at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London.
